Bill McCollum’s campaign lays into…Bud Chiles

Kevin Derby blogs: Despite conventional wisdom holding that new independent gubernatorial candidate Bud Chiles would hurt the Democratic nominee more than the Republican one, GOP candidate Bill McCollum’s camp is tearing into Chiles.

Bud Chiles may be running with no party affiliation, but he is still a lifelong Democrat with incredibly high name identification among Florida voters,” said Matt Williams, McCollum‘s campaign manager. “When Floridians have an opportunity to hear more from Mr. Chiles about his candidacy and vision for the future of our state, they will learn he seeks nothing more than to advance President Obama’s liberal agenda here in the Sunshine State.”

Williams added that Chiles’ campaign showed how CFO Alex Sink, the likely Democratic nominee, is a weak candidate.

“One thing is certain: Bud Chiles’ candidacy speaks volumes about Alex Sink’s failure to generate excitement among both establishment Democrats and moderates in the state,” said Williams. “Unlike our opponents on the left, Bill McCollum’s agenda for Florida will create more than 500,000 jobs and produce greater economic opportunities for current and future generations of Floridians.”
