Reacting to a ruling that the Florida Legislature must draw up new congressional districts by Aug. 15, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson expressed concern that legislative leaders may use the courts to delay the decision.
“The way I see it, the court ruled in favor of Florida voters,” said Nelson. “But, unfortunately, I expect the state might try to appeal to delay having to carry out the court’s directive before the election.”
Lewis said he will consider whether to order a special election later this year under this new map.
