Guido Maniscalco is in a hotly contested three-way race to replace Tampa City Council chair Charlie Miranda. Maniscalco has now been endorsed by Hillsborough County Property Appraiser and former state Rep. Bob Henriquez.
The Guido Maniscalco for Tampa City Council, District 6, campaign is proud to announce its endorsement by Henriquez.
“Guido has lived, worked and played in this district his entire life; he not only cares about the issues we face, he understands them,” Henriquez said.
Charlie Miranda’s District 6 seat covers parts of West and South Tampa and some neighborhoods in the center of the city like Old Seminole Heights. It’s one of four single-member districts. Miranda is leaving council due to term limits.
Maniscalco faces engineer Jackie Toledo and air-conditioning company owner Thomas Clark Castellano. Maniscalco trails both opponents in fundraising. The small business owner has brought in just $21,000 while Toledo has raked in $67,000 and Castellano has raised $25,000.
Maniscalco, upon receiving this endorsement, said “Bob and I share a love of Tampa and a passion for improving the quality of life for all of the city’s residents. I am truly honored to receive his endorsement and support.”
Maniscalco has run his family’s jewelry store in West Tampa for over 40 years. He currently serves as the president of the MacFarlane Park Neighborhood Association, as a member of the City of Tampa Code Enforcement Board and a member of the Hillsborough County Human Rights Council.
Henriquez’s endorsement is the first Maniscalco has received.
“Bob and I share a love of Tampa and a passion for improving the quality of life for all of the city’s residents,” said Maniscalco. “I am truly honored to receive his endorsement and support.”
