Brian Willis continues to lead among Dems in fundraising in District 6 Hillsborough race

While Jim Norman’s blockbuster first month of fundraising ($83,875) was expected due to his hype engineered from his own camp (though it actually was below the alleged $100,000 that those advocates boasted he’d open with), Tampa attorney Brian Willis continues to lead in fundraising among the three major Democrats in the Hillsborough County Commission District 6 countywide race.

Willis has raised $64,277.16 through the end of September, though he’s also spent $21,317.44.

Pat Kemp, who narrowly lost a bid for the countywide District 7 seat last November to Al Higginbotham, has raised $49,105.

And former County Commissioner and Tampa City Councilman Tom Scott has raised $16,277.16 since he entered the contest back in June.

Meanwhile, the other major Republican to enter the District 6 contest, Tim Schock, reports raising $25,350 in his first full month of fundraising.

Republican Tom Aviano has reported no fundraising activity since filing for the office during the summer.
