Brightest minds in Florida politics: Christian Ulvert

in Uncategorized by

Christian Ulvert has been Florida’s Democratic Party political director for just over a year now. And in this time, the young political pro has shown tremendous leadership. Prior to this role, Ulvert served in the Florida House of Representatives as senior communications advisor to the Democratic Caucus; and counseled House Democratic Leader Dan Gelber during his two-year leadership term.

State Attorney for Palm Beach County Dave Aronberg calls Ulvert someone with “great political instincts and a naturally calm demeanor.”

“(He) keeps a candidate level-headed throughout the highs and lows of the campaign,” Aronberg adds. “He is especially strong with media relations and has excellent contacts with reporters throughout the state.”

Marc Caputo wrote in the Miami Herald that Ulvert, as a “Miami native who’s Hispanic, he also cut his teeth in Tallahassee as a consultant and lobbyist. So he understands the dual worlds of Florida politics that run the gamut from Hialeah Drive to Capitol Circle.”

Ulvert also founded EDGE Communications, LLC, a Florida-based communications and political consulting firm, and served as Vice-Chair of SAVE Dade, South Florida’s leading organization dedicated to protecting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) against discrimination.

“Christian is a principled warrior who possesses so many qualities that make one of the most formidable operatives in Florida,” says former Democratic legislator Dan Gelber. “He is smart, hardworking, loyal and innovative which makes him a very effective advocate. He also happens to be extremely ethical.”

“If you’re choosing a team,” Gelber adds, “Christian ought to be your number one draft pick.”

Ulvert masterfully handles strategic communications, public opinion and message development, and works with candidates or lawmakers to turn around and drive public opinion through effective delivery. He has also served as bilingual spokesperson to every campaign he’s joined…and that means a lot of them. And many more to come.

“Where do I start?” says Florida Democratic Party chair Allison Tant.  “Christian is a veteran of Democratic politics, someone who can see the big picture and the smallest details. He knows legislative politics, he knows campaigning, he knows the activists — and he understands, better than anyone, how those relate to each other in different communities across Florida.

“Christian is the rare political professional who knows how to get things done in Florida.”
