Brightest minds in Florida politics: Steve Vancore

in Uncategorized by

Relative to their Republican counterparts, Democratic strategists in Florida have not had, shall we say, the most fertile ground on which to demonstrate their acumen over the past many years.

Then, there’s Steve Vancore.

It seems that very little can keep Vancore down. His incisive, say-it-as-he-sees it approach has meant the inclusion of this Democrat on teams or projects historically relegated to the right; and Vancore’s strategic counsel has meant success on campaigns and initiatives alike.

Vancore began in politics in the mid-1980s, working as a district manager for U.S. Congressman Pete Peterson, and then running a statewide polling and political research center where he oversaw the administration of hundreds of polling and political research projects.

He teaches graduate students in the Masters of Applied American Politics & Policy program at Florida State, and is a frequent guest lecturer on the subject of Florida politics and political research.

Vancore was a former political director of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, and a former WCTV political analyst. Among his many talents are moderating and conducting focus groups and mock trials. VancoreJones Communications won the 2007 “Dick Pope All Florida” Golden Image Award given by the Florida Public Relations Association.

Brecht Heuchan, founder of Contribution Link, sees the collaboration between Vancore and co-founding partner Drew Jones as both “creative and committed.”

“Having completely different personalities, these two are perfect complements of each other, which offers their clients the best of both,” Heuchan adds. “Practicality coupled with a bold approach to campaigns and communications.”

In this writer’s estimation, Vancore is inarguably one of the Top 5 brightest minds in Florida politics.
