From the Crowley Political Report:
Bud Chiles’ nascent independent campaign for governor has launched a website – walkwithbud.com, started a Facebook page and completed its first campaign video.
The video is narrated by Chiles with frequent cuts to him walking around Florida. “My walk has also made me realize how state government has broken its bond with you,” Chiles says. “How it has turned its back on those it was created to serve. And the reason is money. I was raised to understand that money comes with strings attached. Big money comes with chains.”
He explains that he is running as an independent because, “sadly, I can’t in good faith make this journey as the nominee of either political party. These institutions once united people behind ideas but now they divide us according to the will of their biggest contributors.”
The video also includes pictures of Chiles with his father, the late Gov. Lawton Chiles, who died in 1998 just a month before the end of his second term.
