Candidate’s musician brother entertains early voters at Tampa polling site

In an interesting twist this election cycle, Jack Henriquez set up his portable keyboard Tuesday and began playing for early voters at the Jan Platt Library polling site on Manhattan Avenue in Tampa.

Henriquez, a talented local musician, is the older brother of Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez.

“I have always supported my brother — especially in music,” said Jack Hernandez. “Whenever he has had any party or event for his campaign, and I will always be there for him, whenever he needs me.”

Bob “Coach” Henriquez is seeking a second term as property appraiser; for years, he served as head coach of the Tampa Catholic football program. Despite talents both on the field and in politics, Coach Henriquez believes his brother has a special knack for connecting with people.

“My brother Jack has always had a great talent for music,” he said, “and he can probably entertain and get to people through his music better than I can through speeches.”

Jack says he will continue playing at the Jan Platt Library through the early voting period, which began Monday and runs through the Sunday before the Nov. 8 General Election.

Jack will also perform at his brother’s “Game-Winning-Drive” Get-Out-The-Vote “Fun-Raiser” Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the historic Columbia Restaurant Museum at 2902 E. 7th Ave. in Ybor City.
