It might not be the most romantic approach to Valentine’s Day, but David Jolly supporters can get a rare opportunity to have lunch with the candidate, a few notable GOP names and U.S. Rep Eric Cantor, all at the country’s oldest family-owned cigar company.
Cantor, the House Republican second-in-command from Virginia, will be the featured guest at a $250-a-plate fundraising luncheon on Friday afternoon to support Republican Jolly’s fierce battle with Democrat Alex Sink for Florida’s 13th Congressional District, with the special election on March 11.
The event is at J.C. Newman Cigar Company, 2701 N. 16 Street in Ybor City, starting with a VIP photo-op at noon, and the luncheon starting at 12:15 p.m.
Jolly campaign finance co-chairs include several high-profile Tampa Bay GOP leaders, including developer Mel Sembler, former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker, and executive Bill Edwards. Host committee members include State Sen. Jeff Brandes, Rep. Dana Young and Newman Cigar Company heads Eric and Bobby Newman.
A ticket for the VIP reception will set donors back $1,000. RSVP’s are required, through Rochelle Dudley at [email protected] or (727) 204-0184.
