Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch, running for re-election in District 7, has released The Welch 100, a broad-based list of over 100 faith, community, political, and business leaders, the campaign announced Thursday.

The Welch 100 evidences bi-partisan support and represents the diversity of the district. The list also includes 6 current and former mayors from municipalities across District 7, which is comprised of the southern and easternmost portions of Pinellas County.

Commissioner Welch adds an important note. “I am proud to receive these endorsements from so many folks throughout the district and Pinellas County. These individuals come from different neighborhoods, faiths, political parties, and business communities. It speaks to the type of Commissioner I have tried to be—a representative of all the people. I also want to make clear that The Welch 100 is inclusive, that the first spot is left open—always—for the everyday citizen,” Commissioner Welch said.

Former Governor Charlie Crist, who is listed on The Welch 100, has been a supporter since Welch was first elected to the Pinellas County Commission in 2000. “Commissioner Ken Welch has served this community for almost 12 years as a dedicated and effective leader who is focused on improving the lives of all Pinellas county residents. It comes as no surprise to me that Commissioner Welch has so quickly garnered wide support from our county’s community, faith, and business leaders. I’m proud to be among those individuals who support his re-election,” Crist said.

Gwen Reese, long-time community leader, who is listed on the Welch 100, recognizes that Commissioner Welch’s support comes directly from his rapport with the community. “In these critical times, it’s important to know that you have a leader who is responsive and accessible to you, whether it’s an individual or community-wide concern. Commissioner Welch is that accessible leader who always takes time to listen and respond,” said Ms. Reese.
