Charlie Crist endorses Patrick Murphy for Democratic nomination for Senate in 2016

Nine days after he acknowledged that he wouldn’t be a candidate for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in 2016, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist today announced his support for Patrick Murphy for that same seat.

“Patrick Murphy has the energy, integrity, and work ethic we need in the United States Senate,” he wrote on his Facebook page this morning. “I hope you’ll join me in supporting his campaign.”

Whether others in the party will follow suit remains to be seen. Murphy announced his candidacy just 48 hours ago. Liberal firebrand U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson continues to make noises that he’s going to run as well, smashing any thoughts among party leaders to avoid a contested primary election.
