Charlie Crist: Still praying the hurricanes away

in Uncategorized by

While a certain Republican presidential candidate’s families believe you can ‘pray the gay away’, Florida’s former governor, Charlie Crist, believes in praying the hurricanes away.

Each year as governor, Crist either personally placed or had a friend place prayers in Jerusalem’s Western Wall asking God to protect Florida from hurricanes. No major hurricanes hit the state.

And with Hurricane Irene veering away from the Sunshine State, some Floridians may have to wonder whether they should thank both God and Charlie Crist for their good fortune.

Recently Crist asked Patrick Murphy, a Democrat hoping to challenge Republican Congressman Allen West, for help during Murphy’s trip to Israel.

Crist said Wednesday, “I said ‘You can do me and Florida a big favor if you can take a prayer to the wall and ask God to protect beautiful Florida.'”

Sounds like ‘Governor Sunshine’, as Crist was affectionately referred to, is still looking out for his state.
