Charlie Crist wraps up book tour on Saturday in St. Pete

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist invites friends and supporters to a book signing event at noon on Saturday at Haslam’s Bookstore in St. Petersburg.

The visit is part of a nine-city book tour crossing Florida in support of The Party’s Over: How the extreme right hijacked the GOP, and I became a Democrat.

Over is a “no-holes barred” memoir of his journey from a Republican governor to an unsuccessful independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, through his effort to get his old job as a Democrat against Gov. Rick Scott..

Crist also describes the inner workings of his 2010 Senate campaign against the Tea Party-backed Marco Rubio, which demonstrated just how ruthless GOP leadership could be, and the consequences of his infamous “hug” with President Barack Obama — which immediately made him “persona non grata” among his former colleagues.

Crist writes how he believes that Democrats have the right vision for both Florida and America. He talks about the lessons he learned as a member of both parties, and why he still holds out hope for the two-party system, if only they had the right leadership.

Haslam’s is at 2025 Central Ave in St. Petersburg. For more information, visit www.haslams.com or call (727) 822-8616.
