Pinellas County Commission candidate Charlie Justice will be at  Midtown Sundries this evening from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. to host a meet and greet fundraising reception, which will kick-off his campaign.

For those who may not yet know, former State Senator Charlie Justice announced his candidacy for the office of Pinellas County Commission, District 3 (at Large) — seeking the seat that is now held by Nancy Bostock— and is launching his campaign in full-force, beginning this evening.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work for the people of Pinellas,” said Justice. “We have important work to do to create jobs, secure our neighborhoods, and make smart, fiscally responsible decisions about where our community is headed. We have seen Washington and Tallahassee gridlocked by ideological battles. I don’t want Pinellas to fall prey to the same partisan politics,” Justice continued.

Justice points to EMS, fluoride and intergovernmental posturing about lawsuits as issues that demand principled and pragmatic leadership. “Nothing frustrates me more than watching our elected leaders sue each other. Rarely does it work out well and taxpayers end up footing the bill,” Justice said.

A Pinellas native, Charlie Justice served three terms in the Florida House of Representatives and one term in the Florida Senate where he was known as a tireless advocate for improving education,  protecting local jobs, looking out for consumers, and standing firm on controversial issues including governmental intrusion into the Terri Schiavo case.

“There is important work to do here in our community. It’s time to get serious about making Pinellas the best place in the world to grow up, work, raise your family and retire,” Justice concluded.
