Sheriff Chris Nocco has raised more than $100,000 in campaign donations – topping all his opponents combined — in his effort to hold onto the office the governor appointed him to a year ago.

Nocco is seeking the Republican nomination for sheriff in the August primary.

Nocco has raised a total of $110,383 in cash and in-kind contributions, according to campaign finance reports filed this week with the Pasco supervisor of elections office.

The reports are for the period of Jan. 1 to March 31.

In a Tuesday night email to his supporters, Nocco said the “first quarter surpassed all expectations and that is due to your hard work, commitment, and enthusiasm.”

Also seeking the Republican nomination are Roger Fortney, a former sheriff’s deputy, who reported $14,128 in contributions, and Maurice Radford, a former major with the sheriff’s office, who has collected $13,229.

Two Democrats also have announced their candidacies. Kim Bogart, also a former major with the sheriff’s office, reported $33,282 in contributions and Larry Roberts reported $125.
