Chris Sprowls adds to groundswell of support with campaign kickoff Sept. 12

A host of Florida political luminaries, including House Speaker Will Weatherford, will honor Chris Sprowls at a campaign kickoff in his bid for the House District 65. He is looking to unseat Democratic incumbent Rep. Carl “Z” Zimmermann in 2014.

The party will be Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Riverside Grille House Veranda, 10 Dodecanese Blvd in Tarpon Springs, and beginning at 6 p.m.

Sprowls, an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, is also a special prosecutor in the Gang Unit of the state attorney’s office.  Earlier this year, he was named one of Florida’s “30 under 30” rising political stars, and has worked to build a strong groundswell of support, most notably evidenced by his surpassing Zimmerman in donations received by a factor of more than 3.5 to 1.

More signs of Sprowls’ increasing popularity are the prominent supporters and well-wishers scheduled to attend the event, including:

  • Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri
  • State Attorney Bernie McCabe
  • Sen.  Jack Latvala
  • Sen.  Jeff Brandes
  • Sen. Mike Fasano
  • Sen. John Legg
  • Rep. Richard Corcoran, Chairman of Health & Human Services
  • Rep. Larry Ahern
  • Rep. James Grant
  • Rep. Ed Hooper
  • Rep. Kathleen Peters
  • Pinellas County Commissioner Susan Latvala

Once elected, Sprowls vows to “never stop being an advocate for you or trade principle for politics,” promising to “always tell it to you straight.”

District 65 covers much of north Pinellas County including Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and East Lake.
