Claims bills filed for ‘Justice 2 Jesus’

Bills have again been filed in the Senate and House seeking up to $7 million in compensation for capital gadfly and lobbyist Brian Pitts, of Justice 2 Jesus, for what he claims was a false prosecution for practicing law without a license. The claims bills filed for Pitts and seek to remendy a “concerted effort of the courts, The Florida Bar and the State Attorney’s Office … being in continual collusion against Mr. Pitts,” for jailing him for practicing law, even though he’s not licensed to. The claims bills have been filed in previous years in the Legislature, and never passed. Bills are filed by Sen. Gary Siplin, D-Orlando, (SB 20, SB 56) and Rep. Jim Waldman, D-Coconut Creek, (HB 1455).  The bills seek “up to $7 million, but not less than $1 million, to be paid proportionately by the parties that wronged him and to be paid in lump sum or in payments over a period of no more than 10 years.”
