Republicans Larry Ahern and Chris Latvala have taken big leads when it comes to financing their reelection campaigns.
With June fundraising figures in, Ahern, who holds the HD 66 seat, had raised $9,585 bringing his overall total to $91,216. His Democratic opponent, Lorena Grizzle, brought in $1,423 for a total of $3,689.
Results were even more lopsided in the HD 67 race. Latvala raised $34,830 in June, giving him a war chest of $198,550.81. His Democratic opponent, David S. Vogel, raised $1,675 for a total of $1,925.
HD 66 covers a portion of western Pinellas that includes parts of Pinellas Park, Largo, Clearwater, Seminole and the mid-Pinellas beaches.
HD 67 covers mid-Pinellas. It includes parts of Pinellas Park, Largo, Clearwater, Safety Harbor and the unincorporated High Point area.
