The program will feature a panel on the history of the Vinoy and the successful efforts to restore St. Petersburg’s premiere hotel, with Elaine Normile, Marty Normile, Peter Belmont and Tom Stovall. Elaine is the official historian of the Vinoy and she will help us understand how the Vinoy came to grace our waterfront. Marty is the former director of St. Pete’s Downtown Progress, and will be offering his insight into how the Vinoy restoration helped spark downtown’s revival. Peter is a local attorney who represented several citizens’ groups during the public debate over the extent of new development that was proposed alongside the Vinoy as part of the restoration efforts. Tom is a craftsman and artist who was selected to head the team for artistic restoration of the hotel’s ornate interior. The program promises to be interesting and informative!
