Committee for Sen. Bill Galvano – likely future Senate Prez – raises $194K in February

An electioneering committee headed by Sen. Bill Galvano raised $194,000 in contributions during February, reports the News Service of Florida, for an overall total of more than $824,000, according to newly filed reports.

Florida Division of Elections reports the “Innovate Florida” committee received $25,000 from Disney Worldwide Services, as well as sizable contributions from Realtors, education and health-care business interests.

“Innovate” also spent $40,282 during February, including $1,000 contributions to the campaigns of Republican Sens. Jack Latvala, John Thrasher and Joe Negron, in addition to State Reps. Matt Caldwell and Matt Gaetz.

Galvano, a possible candidate for Senate President, according to the News Service, is seeking re-election in 2014 for Senate District 26, although his February financial numbers are pending as of Friday morning.

Monday is the deadline for candidates and committees to file updated reports.
