Compilation of Florida elected officials’ and politicians’ tributes for Memorial Day

This weekend Floridians throughout our state will remember the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have lost their lives while serving our country throughout our nation’s history. As we come together with family and friends to honor our fallen military and veterans, let us also bring to mind the tremendous sacrifice they have made for our benefit.

The following is a compilation of the messages and tributes put forth by Florida’s elected officials and politicians in honor of Memorial Day:

Senator Marco Rubio:

“As we celebrate Memorial Day weekend, let us remember those brave and heroic Americans who gave their lives in service to this great country.

“Because of their commitment to freedom, you and I are able to enjoy the very principles this country was founded upon—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

“Let’s send our thoughts and prayers to the families of those who have fallen on a holiday that remembers both their sacrifice and their incredible pledge to fight for freedom at home and abroad.

“If you are the family member or friend of one of these American heroes, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

“Let us remember what makes America the greatest nation in the world.”

Congressman Gus Bilirakis:

“For more than two centuries, America’s brave men and women have answered the call, defending the strength of our country. Through their selfless sacrifices, we continue to live in a place known as the land of the free and the home of the brave. On Memorial Day, we reflect on the ideals our service members stand for and the values many died defending: God, country and family. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to all our veterans for their service – one that words alone cannot repay. God bless our nation’s heroes and their families, and God bless America.”

Congressman Dennis Ross:

“Every day, and especially on Memorial Day, we remember our heroes who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country. These Veterans have seen valor and horror few can relate to, and countless times, from 1776 – present day, saved American freedom and preserved hope for our world. We owe them and their loved ones a debt that we can never truly repay.

“On this Memorial Day, please take time to thank the family members and friends of those who have valiantly fought on our behalf and were never able to return to their loved ones. As a nation, we have a duty to ensure these patriots are never forgotten.”

Representative Bill Hager:

“As we approach the Memorial Day Weekend, I hope that each of us will take a few moments to consider the tremendous sacrifices made each day for the causes of liberty and freedom by the brave men and women who have served, as well as those that continue to serve this great nation. Let us also carefully reflect on the lives of the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that each of us could be free. We owe so much to these patriots.”
