A compilation of Thanksgiving message from Florida’s elected officials and politicians.

Governor Rick Scott:

“Ann and I join all families across Florida to give thanks for the many blessings our state has received this year. As families gather with their loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving, I encourage everyone to take time to remember the brave men and women who are defending our nation to protect our freedom. Many of these heroes will not be able to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with their loved ones, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this holiday season.”

Former Gov. Charlie Crist:

“Before our nation’s special day of humility and gratitude, I want to tell you that I am so grateful for you — and for the millions of people like you who shared their time, resources, and most importantly, their hearts with our campaign.

“I am so proud of how we came together. We stood up for the values we share, and we left it all on the field.

“Carole and I will be counting our blessings at the dinner table tomorrow – you are one of them.

“From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.”

Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater:

“As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we are reminded of our many blessings – family and friends, health and happiness, the gift of living in a free country and the countless other blessings we enjoy as Floridians.

“I am thankful every day for more than 1.5 million veterans who fought to secure and preserve the freedoms we enjoy. These service members and our active military members, alongside our state’s many fire and law enforcement personnel selflessly put their lives on the line in the name of our safety so we can spend time with our loved ones.

“I am also thankful for the mothers and fathers in Florida who are raising the future leaders of our state, and for the teachers who are providing us the crucial education we need to be successful. Let us all remain thankful for Florida’s innovative business leaders who are fueling our economy.

“Our record low unemployment numbers, our ranking as 5th best business climate in the nation and a housing market that’s on the rise are further reasons to appreciate our great state. Florida’s economic engines are turning and innovative entrepreneurs are creating jobs that will drive our state forward.

“These blessings and our state’s unmatched natural beauty and quality of life make me very thankful this Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoy your holiday and take time to appreciate the many ways our state has been blessed.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi:

“As we gather together with our family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us be grateful for our many blessings.

“Recently, we were reminded of the fragility of life and the great sacrifice that our law enforcement officers make for our safety. With the shooting at Florida State University followed by the tragic death of Leon County Sheriff Deputy Chris Smith, who was killed in the line of duty, let us all keep their family and friends in our thoughts and prayers. Law enforcement officers sacrifice their lives daily to protect others, and this Thanksgiving, I am especially grateful for them.

“Also, let us remember those in the Armed Forces who are serving our country on this holiday away from their families. I wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving.”

U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia:

“This Thanksgiving, I am more grateful than ever for all the overwhelming support of my family and friends – especially you.

“Thank you for being a part of these past two years of service and thank you for your friendship. I hope you get to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.

“Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.”

Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto:

“This Thanksgiving I am thankful for the many blessings in my life, first and foremost among them are my children. Having Austin home from college and getting to spend time with him and Gabriella sure makes this mom’s heart full with happiness and gratitude.  I am also grateful that the voters of Senate District 30 once again placed their trust in me to represent beautiful Southwest Florida in the legislature.”

Sen. Jeff Brandes:

“Each year the Thanksgiving Holiday offers us a chance to reflect and show our gratitude for life’s many blessings.

“I hope you’ll join me in taking this opportunity to give thanks, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy the many things that make Tampa Bay such a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. Thank you for giving me the honor of serving you, and from my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!”

Rep. Jim Boyd:

“May the good things of life be yours in abundance not only at Thanksgiving but throughout the coming year.”

Rep. Bob Cortes:

“Thanksgiving is definitely a special holiday.  It is a time for us to gather with family and friends and thank God for the blessings He has given us.

“I count my family, this great country of ours, and all of our many supporters as great blessings, and I want you all to know how thankful I am to know you and to have worked with you over this past year.

“Let us also remember those among us serving with our law enforcement and public safety and our military.  They continue to keep us safe, and many of them do not have the luxury of celebrating with their families tomorrow on the same schedule that we all do.

“May God bless you all, and may God bless Florida.”

Rep. Dane Eagle:

“In his proclamation for Thanksgiving in 1982, President Reagan said, “I have always believed that this anointed land was set apart in an uncommon way, that a divine plan placed this great continent here between the oceans to be found by people from every corner of the Earth who had a special love of faith and freedom. Our pioneers asked that He would work His will in our daily lives so America would be a land of morality, fairness, and freedom. Today we have more to be thankful for than our pilgrim mothers and fathers who huddled on the edge of the New World that first Thanksgiving Day could ever dream.”

“As we enter the holiday season, we gather with our families and loved ones to give thanks for the blessings bestowed upon us. As Americans we have so much for which to be thankful and none is more important than our liberty: the very heart of the Pilgrims’ determination to brave the seas in search of a new world.

“During the holidays we also keep in our thoughts and prayers the men and women of our Armed Forces, especially those far from home, separated from family and friends by the call of duty. In distant locations all over the world, these courageous Americans are defending our liberty and keeping all of us safe from harm. They and their families are making many sacrifices for all of us, and I encourage you to join with me to pray for their safe return.

“I am humbled by and so grateful for the trust you have place in me to represent your interests in Tallahassee. In the spirit of gratitude for all we have achieved together over the past two years and looking forward to all that we hope to achieve together, my staff and I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!”

Rep. Bill Hager:

“Each year the Thanksgiving Holiday offers us a chance to reflect and show our gratitude for life’s many blessings.

“I hope you will join me in taking this opportunity to give thanks, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy the many things that make Palm Beach County such a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. Thank you for giving me the honor of serving you, and from my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!”

Rep. Matt Hudson:

“Thanksgiving is a special time to give thanks and celebrate with family and friends. I feel blessed to serve the constituents of District 80 and bring your ideas and concerns to Tallahassee. Thank you for the opportunity and the honor to be your voice in your government and thank you to those who protect our freedoms in the armed forces!”

Rep. Ed Narain:

“Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite times of the year! It is a time when we give thanks for loved ones, friends, and all of God’s many blessings. It gives us another reason to smile and is a reminder to stay in the service of others.

“This year I am additionally thankful for the opportunity you’ve granted me to serve as your state representative. Thank you!

“From my family to yours, we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!”

Rep. Doc Renuart:

“As Americans, we have so much to be thankful for. We are able to wake up every day in a country where freedom, liberty, and justice are guaranteed. We work hard and are blessed with food on our tables, roofs over our heads, and clothes on our backs.

“In many countries around the world, the precious gifts that we take for granted are not even imaginable. Our military is working on bringing the blessings of America to people around the world, that they too can enjoy the comfort of not living in fear or desperation. Many of the men and women in our Armed Forces will not get the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families this year. I ask that you remember them and their families in your prayers and give thanks for the sacrifices they are making in the name of democracy.

“I feel so blessed that you have allowed me to represent such an abundant area with such a devout group of people for the past 6 years. I believe that the men and women in District 17 are the heart of our nation, steeped in family values, respect for God, and patriotism for our country.  Thank you for allowing me to serve you.  I wish you a gracious and happy Thanksgiving.”

The Florida Chamber’s Mark Wilson:

“Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks and share gratitude for our blessings in life. We believe, like you, that free enterprise is something to be thankful for.

“We are grateful for your perseverance and strength as we continue moving Florida in the right direction. With your help, Florida is on the path toward an even brighter future – one that includes strong private-sector job creation and greater opportunities and prosperity for families. In fact, with 220,000 new jobs created this year, Florida has even more reasons to be thankful.

“If you haven’t viewed the Florida Chamber’s new video called “I Believe,” please click here. Thank you for your confidence in free enterprise, and thank you for your trust in us.

“On behalf of all of us here at the Florida Chamber, we wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.”
