Consider the scope of Sheriff Bob Gualtieri’s victory: He was once down 43%, wins tonight 14%

Just take a moment to consider the scope of Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri’s victory.

In June of 2011, a poll conducted by Susquehanna Polling and Research showed Everett Rice beginning the race with a huuuggge lead over Bob Gualtieri.

According to this automated poll of 600 Republican voters, Rice entered the race with a 52 to 9 percent lead over Gualtieri.

Tonight, Gualtieri won by fourteen points. That is a fifty-seven point swing.

Quite honestly, I have never seen a comeback like this in Pinellas politics.
