Corcoran & Johnston Government Relations today announced the firm’s expansion, opening a South Florida office to be led by former Department of Health Director of Legislative Affairs Michael Cantens.

“We are excited to expand our firm’s operations with Cantens leading our South Florida office,” said Michael Corcoran, CEO, Corcoran & Johnston Government Relations.  “Michael’s years of experience, beginning as a staff member for a Miami-Dade County Commissioner, then serving a member of the Florida House of Representatives and most recently, as Director of Legislative Affairs for Florida’s Department of Health, will greatly benefit our clients and add to our team’s knowledge, expertise and capabilities.”

Prior to joining Corcoran & Johnston Government Relations, Cantens served as Director of Legislative Affairs for the Florida Department of Health.  As Director, Michael worked closely with legislators, committee staff and the executive branch to develop and advocate the Florida Department of Health’s legislative priorities and budget agenda.

“I am excited to join Corcoran & Johnston Government Relations,” said Cantens.  “I look forward to this new opportunity to serve the firm’s clients, build on the firm’s already strong South Florida presence, and contribute to the professional, hard working and dedicated team at Corcoran & Johnston Government Relations.”

Cantens began his career as an aide to then Miami-Dade County Commissioner, now State Representative Jose “Pepi” Diaz and went on to work for a former member of the House of Representatives.
