Craig Miller ‘suspends’ campaign for Senate to run for US House

Mired in the single digits in the polls, Craig Miller is suspending his campaign for the US Senate to run for a seat in the US House.

Miller is expected to run for the new Congressional seat encompassing parts of Flager, Putnam, St. Johns and Volusia counties.

In a statement, Miller avoided endorsing any of his former opponents.

“There are several very qualified candidates in the U.S. Senate race to represent our party, some with more name recognition and resources than our campaign. Therefore, I have chosen to shift my focus to serving the people of the new Coastal District.”

“Having grown up on the Intracoastal Waterway and having spent a lifetime working in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, including opening and operating businesses in Volusia and St. John Counties, this new District offers me a unique opportunity to serve.”

Miller dropping out has to be good news for Adam Hasner, who is also behind in the polls, but is the clearest alternative to front-runner Connie Mack.
