Charlie Crist moving his campaign HQs back to the ‘burg

William March is reporting that Charlie Crist is moving his campaign headquarters from Tallahassee to the Tampa Bay area, he just announced over Twitter.

There were no details, but it seems likely the location will be in Crist’s hometown, St. Petersburg.

Asked when it might happen, Crist’s Hillsborough county co-chairman Greg Truax said he has no details either, but figures it will be “soon.”

The move isn’t too surprising.

First, Crist badly needs to hold onto his stronghold in the Tampa Bay area, heavy in independent and swing voters. Second, now that he’s a pariah to the Republican Party, Tallahassee probably seems like unfriendly territory.
