Charlie Crist to decide on abortion bill ‘sooner rather than later’

Charlie Crist indicated Tuesday he planned to veto an anti-abortion bill “sooner rather than later,” and that the public pressure his office has received to sign the bill was outweighed by the advice he’s been getting from people first-hand.

“I have concerns about it,” Crist told reporters Tuesday morning. “The notion that there would be a forced ultrasound, if you will, that would have to be paid for by the woman involved, those are things that seem to me to be pretty cynical.”

“We’ve gotten a fair amount of input in the Governor’s Office,” he said. “What I hear anecdotally throughout the state is a little bit different from the kind of responses — maybe through an organized fashion — that we’ve gotten here in the office.”
