Daily Kos/SEIU poll: Half of Obama voters are more (!) excited than in 2008

New polling from Daily Kos and SEIU conducted by Public Policy Polling up-ends conventional wisdom that President Obama’s supporters are less enthusiastic about his re-election bid than they were about his first run for the White House. In fact, half of those who say they plan to vote for Obama this November are more excited about him this time around:

Q: Are you more excited about Barack Obama, less excited, or just as excited as you were about him in 2008?

More excited: 50
Just as excited: 31
Less excited: 18
Not sure: 1

Indeed, fully 81% of Obama voters are just as excited if not more so than they were four years ago. And more than twice as many say they are even more revved up than say they are feeling less enthused. The bottom line is that pundits needs to consider numbers like these before drawing conclusions about how Obama’s supporters feel as we head toward the general election.
