With just over a month until the Aug. 26 primaries, two Republicans released new campaign videos on Wednesday.
In his first TV campaign ad, GOP candidate Chris Sprowls says that the Florida House District 65 race is about taking action for the middle class.
“Like you, I was taught that actions speak louder than words,” Sprowls said in the 30-second spot, which features Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and State Attorney Bernie McCabe.
Sprowls is looking to unseat incumbent Democrat Rep. Carl “Z” Zimmermann in the district covering the cities of Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and East Lake.
“When Chris Sprowls saw gangs taking over our streets, he took action,” says Gualtieri. “And put those criminals behind bars.”
Sprowls currently serves as a prosecutor for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, assigned to the Gang Unit. Sprowls’ litigation experience includes successfully prosecuting dozens of cases such as drug trafficking, crimes against children, and murder.
Emphasizing his record of tax cuts and removing barriers to small business growth, state Rep. Dane Eagle also released his newest campaign ad for the Florida House District 77 race.
Eagle, a Cape Coral Republican, faces Jim Roach, Brandon Ivey and Terry Cramer in the Aug. 26 GOP primary. The winner takes on write-in candidate Jeremy Wood in November for the district that includes the City of Cape Coral and some precincts in North Fort Myers.
“Our campaign has been hot on the trail these past few months and the response has been overwhelming,” Eagle says in a statement. “We’ve been knocking on doors every day, and within the first few weeks alone we received more requests for Dane Eagle yard signs than we did during the entire 2012 race.”
The 30-second spot — now available on YouTube — also highlights Eagle’s support in passing the Florida G.I. Bill, a comprehensive bill signed by Gov. Rick Scott in March that gives a wide range of additional benefits for veterans living in the state of Florida.
“Thank you for this opportunity to serve you,” Eagle says to his constituents. “I wake up each day excited by the possibilities I know we can achieve by working together.”
