Darren Soto to speak at Polk Tiger Bay on Oct. 15

in Statewide/Top Headlines by

State Sen. Darren Soto will be the guest speaker at a meeting of the Tiger Bay Club of Polk County next week.

The Orlando Democrat, who is running for Florida’s 9th Congressional District, will speak at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Bartow Civic Center, 2250 S. Floral Ave. in Bartow.

Soto, who represents Senate District 14, is among five Democrats and one Republican seeking the office vacated by U.S. Rep Alan Grayson, the Orlando liberal vacating the seat to run for U.S. Senate.

CD 9 includes parts of Polk, Osceola and Orange counties. Boundaries, however, are still under consideration by a circuit judge, who must decide on the final shape, after the Florida Legislature failed to redraw districts found in violation of the Fair Districts provisions of the state constitution.

Buffet lunch is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. RSVP at reservation@tigerbaypolk.com.
