DCCC now abandoning Buchanan-challenger Keith Fitzgerald

National Democrats have cancelled $230,000 in TV ads for Keith Fitzgerald in his campaign against Vern Buchanan, shifting the money away from “long shots” to “more promising targets” elsewhere in the country, according to two sources who monitor ad buys via Roll Call.

Still, Democrats insist they are not abandoning Fitzgerald.

“Keith Fitzgerald is a proven reformer running his campaign about his honest and ethical leadership that puts practical solutions ahead of partisan politics, and he is giving ethically challenged Vern Buchanan his most difficult re-election challenge to date. Fitzgerald can win against ethically challenged Vern Buchanan who is running away from his disastrous record in Washington that has ended Medicare while protecting tax breaks for millionaires like himself,” said Stephanie Formas of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
