I spoke with one of the principals involved with the proposal to bring SPiN, an upscale table-tennis themed club and restaurant, to BayWalk. That deal was dead before Sandra Gadsden wrote about it last week, although there is talk of bringing SPiN to a different location in St. Petersburg.
By the way, as someone who travels to New York often, describing SPiN, as Gadsden did, as “one of the hottest spots to open in New York City in the last year” is a bit of an exaggeration. New Yorkers were not lining up around the corner to play ping pong, err, table tennis. In fact, the friends of mine who I spoke with about SPiN describe it as a place you visit once or twice, but not often.
