Democratic congressional candidates Jessica Ehrlich & Nina Hayden to debate at next Tuesday’s Tiger Bay

Is veteran Congressional powerhouse Bill Young at risk of losing the seat he has “owned” for over 40 years?

The answer to that question should be answered after next Tuesday’s Tiger Bay forum pitting Democratic challengers Nina Hayden and Jessica Ehrlich against each other in the first debate of their primary.

Nina Hayden served as an assistant Pasco-Pinellas public defender before winning a seat in 2008 as a Pinellas County School Board member.  After deciding not to run for reelection, Nina waged a losing battle for state Senate against seasoned politician Jack Latvala in 2010.  Nina is an attorney working at Stetson Law School and has an admittedly strong grassroots campaign.

Jessica Ehrlich, also an attorney, raised more than $100,000 in the first month of her campaign.  Jessica is a St. Petersburg native with extensive experience in Washington, having served on the staffs of both Rep. Stephen Lynch (D, MA) and Rep. Clay Shaw (R, FL).

Which candidate has the strongest war-chest and toughest grassroots campaign to be victorious and ultimately face Bill Young who hasn’t lost a campaign in over 40 years?  Do these candidates pose a credible risk to Young or are they lambs to the slaughter?  What if Young drops out or is too sick to campaign?

Join us in the den to meet these two congressional candidates and ask about how they would change Washington.
