Dennis Baxley blasts Connie Mack in endorsement of George LeMieux

Rep. Dennis Baxley ripped Republican Congressman Connie Mack on Wednesday while endorsing former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux in the GOP primary for U.S. Senate. Baxley — no fan of former Gov. Charlie Crist, who tapped LeMieux for an unfinished Senate term in 2009 — said incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson would “tear Mack apart” in the general election. “Connie Mack IV is not his father,” Baxley said in a statement issued by LeMieux’s campaign. “Mack has an abysmal personal financial legacy, attacked Arizona for addressing its illegal immigration problems, and supports embryonic stem cell research. I served with Connie in the Florida House and love him dearly, but he has performed poorly and is not ready to lead.”
