Supporters of Trayvon Martin are expected in St. Petersburg on Saturday, March 31, for a planned march and rally, similar to those held across the nation in recent days. Youth groups, university students and members of organizations from throughout Pinellas County are expected for the march, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Poynter Park, 1000 Third St. S. (near the former Dali Museum site). Assembly for the march begins at 9:30 a.m.

The march will take place along the downtown sidewalks beginning at Poynter Park and ending at Spa Beach Park, 615 Second Ave. NE (near The Pier).

Marchers will proceed north along the east sidewalk of Third St. S., then east along the south sidewalk of Second Ave. N. to Bayshore Drive, cross Bayshore Drive at the crosswalk, turn left and proceed north across Second Ave. at the crosswalk, then turn right and proceed east along the north sidewalk of Second Ave. NE – ending at Spa Beach Park, where supporters will join the “NCLC I Am Trayvon Martin Rally For Justice” at 11:30 a.m. City officials expect the event to conclude by 1 p.m.

Officials anticipate a minimal impact to traffic flow.
