Did Rep. Larry Ahern just throw Rep. Chris Dorworth under the bus?

During a meeting Monday with theTampa Bay Times editorial board, Republican state Rep. Larry Ahern, decried the lavish spending on various state university edifices and the need for fiscal accountability, according to a column by Daniel Ruth.

Rep. Ahern was also asked how Chris Dorworth won enough of the support of his colleague to be designated Speaker of the House after the 2014 elections? Ahern was then asked, ” What assurances did he have that under Dorworth’s management of the House, the Speaker would more responsibly manage state finances than his own?”

Ahern fell silent.

“I’m going to take a pass on that question,” Ahern said.

Hmmm.

Rep. Ahern should not be surprised if he receives a polite, but terse phone call from Republican leadership in the next day or so.
