Arriving in mailboxes of voters in Florida’s 13th Congressional District is a classy piece from Democrat Alex Sink that, while making the case for her, pays tribute to her late husband, Bill McBride.
The front of the mailer includes a black-and-white photograph of McBride, a U.S. Marine, dressed in his whites. The photo is next to a collection of medals earned by McBride. The headline reads, simply, “Always Faithful.”
The reverse side includes a candid of Sink speaking with a veteran and talks about Sink’s efforts as Chief Financial Officer to bring together two state agencies to create “Florida Vets Connect,” a program the mailer says helped make it easier for thousands of military veterans to claim benefits that they were entitled to.
“As the wife and daughter of Marines,” Sinks is quoted on the mailer, “I will always keep faith with our veterans and get them the benefits they have earned.”
In a congressional district with thousands of veterans and in a race where the candidates are attempting to fill the shoes of one of the military’s greatest allies in Congress, this piece — simple, stately — is one of the best yet from Sink’s campaign.
