Don’t look now, but #16 seed Donna Simmons is making a late Tallymadness run at #1 seed Ron Book

With Gonzaga losing to Witchita State last night, March Madness has already seen one of its #1 seeds lose in an early round. TECO lobbyist Donna Simmons is looking to replicate that giant-killing attitude with a late run at #1 seed Ron Book in the first-round of TallyMadness — the online voting competition to determine Florida’s “best” lobbyist.

As expected, Book got off to a strong start. Heck, if just every one of his clients voted at least once  or twice, he’d bank several hundred votes. But beginning late Saturday and through Sunday, Simmons’ supporters have flooded TallyMadness with a wave of voting in her favor. As Sunday’s voting drew to a close, Simmons had pulled ahead of Book with 52 percent of the vote.

There’s still more than 24 hours left in first-round voting, so Book still has time to rally. But if he doesn’t, he could end up as the Gonzaga of TallyMadness: gone too early.
