Duke Maas goes from being the Tampa Trib's exec. editor to the Pitt. Tribune-Review's deputy managing editor for sports

Richard “Duke” Maas, who recently resigned as the Tampa Tribune‘s executive editor, has taken a managerial position with the Pittsburgh (Pa.) Tribune-Review. Maas sent a short message to the Tribune staff announcing that he will join the Tribune-Review at the end of this month as deputy managing editor/sports, reports the Trib’s own Mike Sasso.

Maas’ move begs the question: What does it say about the Trib that its former executive editor goes from being head honcho to the guy who makes sure the box scores line up properly?

Maas, for his part, has offered the obligatory ‘I wanted to be closer to my family’ explanation for his change of scenery.

(Maybe it was because the editorial board was not as “conservative” as it promised to be in this mailer.)
