Dunedin Mayor Dave Eggers pulls landslide Pinellas County Commission victory

in Uncategorized by

Dunedin Mayor Dave Eggers will change jobs. In what was an expected landslide victory, Eggers defeated challengers Mark Weinkrantz, Carl Folkman and Marcus Harrison. Eggers collected 61 percent of the vote.

Weinkrantz was Eggers’ closest challenger. He has 33 percent of the vote.

The General Election was a breeze for Eggers who faced a crowded GOP primary with several well-funded and well-known challengers. Of his six opponents he faced a former state Representative, Peter Nehr and a prominent dentist who led the fight to return fluoride to the county’s drinking water, Johnny Johnson. Both Johnson and Nehr out-funded Eggers in the primary.

Eggers total fundraising only amounted to $88,540. That’s more than $35,000 less than Johnson raised for just the primary.
