To help Republican Ed Hooper kick-off his newest campaign, his friends and supporters are hosting a reception for his campaign to succeed Norm Roche.
The event will be in St. Petersburg Sept. 17 at The Birchwood Hotel, 340 Beach Drive NE, starting at 5:30 p.m. ย
Hooper is finishing his fourth term in the Legislature, currently representing House District 67 with a solid Republican voting record; due to term limits, he cannot seek re-election. For the county seat, so far he is running unopposed.
A former Clearwater fire lieutenant, paramedic and Clearwater city commissioner, Hooper received “A” grades in his Legislative Report Card by the Florida Chamber of Commerce Honor Roll for every year from 2007 to 2012. He was also Majority Deputy Whip from 2008 to 2010.
Over his legislative career, Hooper voted for the Florida KidCare program, making it easier for families to obtain health insurance for their children, as well as funds to save the Willa Carson Health Resource Center, a health resource for families in Clearwater’s North Greenwood neighborhood.
