Email Insights: Cristworld brings the momentum in a fun way

July has provided Democrat Charlie Crist, and his supporters, with some “big news” — as well as significant momentum.

In a festive campaign email, Cristworld touted July as its biggest month of fundraising to date, presenting the good news in a slick, celebratory infographic.

Not only did Crist raise $3.5 million combined — up $18 million since November — but is also within striking distance of 50,000 individual donations taken since announcing his campaign.

The best part; nearly all contributions (90 percent of them) are $100 or less.

Adding to the triumphant feel is the email’s subject line: “50,000 donations, let’s hit it.”

Crist’s infographic notably avoids making the urgent plea for cash (i.e. “we need to pay the rent” from an earlier email), but takes a more festive, we-are-all-in-this-together tone (“chip in today”).

Infographics play a role in marketing as a quick way to present statistics in a fun, easily digestible way.

In the case of Charlie Crist, it works.

And if that is not proof of momentum, nothing is.
