Grassroots is one of those buzzwords thrown around every political season — often so much that it risks losing all meaning.
But in the latest email from the Charlie Crist for Governor Campaign, some new fundraising numbers show the word “grassroots” in its proper context.
As of June 30th, Crist received more than 30,000 contributions under $100 – which makeup 85 percent of all donations to the campaign.
In comparison, the email notes that Republican incumbent Gov. Rick Scott is “funded by special interests and Tallahassee insiders.”
While raising more than $2.3 million, both Crist’s campaign account and associated committee brought in more than $14.4 million total.
With numbers like those, the Crist campaign proves one thing — it is undoubtedly worthy of the grassroots banner.
