Email Insights: Curt Clawson forgets Lizbeth Benacquisto has a job – in Tallahassee

Curt Clawson is taking his ball and going home; call him when the Florida 19th Congressional District frontrunner — otherwise known as Lizbeth Benacquisto – is ready to play.

In an email to supporters, Clawson accused Benacquisto of failing to attend “three straight forums” for a variety of reasons — none of which he will disclose.

“Therefore,” the email goes, “we respectfully request that forum organizers only schedule dates that she is willing to attend.”

Clawson will no longer attend forums where the frontrunner does not show. Instead, he will continue hosting “free meet and greets” across Southwest Florida.

That is mighty sporting of him.

In addition, Clawson will only attend events set up by “neutral organizers” and attended by the “frontrunner” (just can’t say her name, I guess).

Let’s (just for laughs) pretend that Benacquisto isn’t State Senate Majority Leader — on the first full week of the 2014 legislative session.

Would she come then? Maybe.

But she IS Majority Leader, during what is clearly the busiest part of her job — legislating in Tallahassee on behalf of her constituents.

She’s a little busy for a “pick-up game.”

Even an “outsider” should realize that.
