St. Pete City Council candidate Ed Montanari is thanking supporters for another good week on the trail. In an email he proudly announces his recent endorsement by the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association.
The group offered its key endorsement as St. Pete Police were still reeling from an officer-involved shooting that left one officer injured and a suspect dead.
Montanari also wrote that he enjoyed a successful campaign fundraiser hosted by the Young Floridians for Opportunity. The group strives to support candidates who will “support the American dream.”
“It was great to listen, discuss, and share our vision for moving St. Petersburg forward with a group of young professionals that are so committed to our city,” Montanari wrote.
Montanari called the event a success and continues to encourage supporters to contribute to his campaign on his website, but he has not yet filed campaign documents outlining how much he’s brought in so far.
He’ll be attending another fundraising event Thursday, May 28, at Green Bench Brewing from 5:30-7:30.
So far, Montanari has not drawn a challenger for the District 3 seat he’s trying to win.
If elected, Montanari will replace incumbent Bill Dudley, who is leaving office due to term limits. Dudley has also endorsed Montanari.
The two faced off for the seat eight years ago when Dudley narrowly defeated Montanari.
