Even as Rick Scott self-funds his campaign for re-election, by cutting himself a $22 million check, a host of big-name GOP leaders assemble Friday to boost the Governor’s chances with a major Republican fundraiser in Coral Gables.
Special guests for the $250-a-plate luncheon — $25,000 for event chairs — are former Gov. Jeb Bush, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and Lieutenant Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, as well as most of the South Florida Republican state delegation.
Bigwigs on the host committee include Republican fundraiser Al Cardenas, real estate tycoon Jeffrey Soffer, NextEra Energy President and Chair Jim Robo, and sugar baron J. Pepe Fanjul.
Scheduled for the Biltmore Hotel, the event begins with a lunch reception Friday, beginning 11:30 a.m., with an exclusive event chair function at 12:45 p.m. The Biltmore is at 1200 Anastasia Ave. in Coral Gables.
