Moving forward with part of the 2010 health overhaul, federal officials announced Tuesday they have entered agreements with Florida health organizations to try to improve care provided to Medicare beneficiaries. The agreements are with what is known as “accountable care organizations.” Those organizations will become responsible for the care provided to thousands of Medicare beneficiaries — and will share in cost savings that result from improved care. Three organizations will serve Florida beneficiaries. They are Florida Physicians Trust, LLC in Winter Park; Primary Partners, LLC, in Clermont; and West Florida ACO, LLC, in Trinity. Also, two other Florida-based organizations will serve beneficiaries in other states.
