Mayoral candidate Rick Kriseman is up with the first TV spot of St. Petersburg’s municipal elections. Below is an exclusive sneak-peek at the ad.
The first moments of the ad are pretty cute, depicting unruly children at play, while a narrator chides that “… some St. Pete politicians treat our city like a playground.”
That would be you, Bill Foster and Kathleen Ford, the ad is alluding to.
The Kriseman campaign tells me the spot is in heavy rotation on cable television and will stay up through the primary election on August 27.
No official word yet on how much money Kriseman raised during the second quarter, but sources close to the campaign tell me the former State Representative matched or came close to matching his first quarter haul of over $50,000.
Based on the latest polling I have (St. Pete Polls was in the field yesterday for me), Kriseman definitely needs to start expending the money he’s raised if he wants to make it to the run-off. And with 61,000 early ballots to be mailed on July 23, Kriseman doesn’t have much time left to make his case to the voters.
