Glenn Marson, the editorial page editor for The Ledger, in a Sunday column in that paper, offers one of the most heart-felt, yet damning criticisms of the Times‘ re-branding.

Marson’s bona fides on this issue are more significant than him just being an editor at a rival newspaper (with which Marson acknowledges The Ledger has a “good relationship”).

“I grew up in a St. Pete Times family. My father, Red Marston, was outdoors editor for nearly 20 years, and wrote for the Times for another 25 years after retirement.”

The rebranding effort does not sit well with Marston.
