The Florida Chamber of Commerce today named veteran government affairs professional David M. Christian as Vice President of Government Affairs.
Christian is a veteran public policy professional. His 20-year career has included serving as Vice President of Public Affairs, Policy and Communications with Verizon Communications, Communications Manager for the United States Telecommunications Association during the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and serving as Deputy Press Secretary for Congressman Nicholas Mavroules.
“We’re pleased to add David Christian to our seasoned governmental affairs team and our effective political operations program spearheaded by Marian Johnson,” said David Hart, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and Political Operations. “One of our top priorities is to unite the business community and David’s association experience and private-sector background will enhance our ability to serve our members, association partners and local chambers of commerce.” Adding David to the team will help solidify our business advocacy efforts and make our team even stronger.”
As Vice President of Government Affairs, Christian will lead the creation and execution of the annual Florida Business Agenda and will lead the Florida Chamber’s team of 25 lobbyists.
“It is an honor to serve the Vice President of Government Affairs for the leading voice of business in Florida,” said Christian. “I look forward to representing the Florida Chamber and applying my 20 years of corporate, association and public sector experience in advocating on behalf of the varied business interests that are key to the state’s economic growth and welfare. As an experienced government policy practitioner, I understand the myriad of issues facing businesses across the state, and I look forward to engaging Florida’s legislative leaders in Tallahassee on their behalf.”
Christian is a graduate of New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire. He and his wife Amy have two children, and live in Tallahassee. Christian joins the Florida Chamber effective September 24, 2012.
